Generative AI brings exciting opportunities for research. In November 2024, Research IT has put together a new infrastructure to support the use of generative AI in research. This infrastructure provides access to state-of-the-art Generative AI models (e.g. GPT 4 ) in a safe and secure fashion. The second round of applications is now open.

To help ensure that this infrastructure is fit for purpose and serves researchers needs, Research IT together with the UvA Data Science Centre (DSC), part of the UvA Library, is once more looking for early users to provide feedback.

Specifically, this call aims to identify users and associated research projects that require generative AI tools for research and provide them access to this new infrastructure. Users will be provided access to the infrastructure for free, up to an identified cap. The cap will be given in the proposal acceptance letter.

This call will not only support novel research but also identify both the strong and weak points of the provided infrastructure. Researchers using the infrastructure will be expected to present their outputs in the form of a presentation. We expect to provide usage for a period of 10 weeks from the accepted proposal notification.

Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and can be submitted until 1 June 2025.
