I am a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam’s School for Cultural Analysis. I am departmentally funded. I received an MS.t. in History of Art and Visual Culture from the University of Oxford in 2017 and a B.A (Hons) in History of Art from the University of East Anglia in 2015.

My PhD thesis, Dissident Cartographies: Mapping Memory’s Spatial Politics in Buenos Aires, questions the spatial terms through which societies confront historic and present forms of state-enacted violence. I focus on key representations of Buenos Aires’ geography by activists and artists, each of whom sought to oppose impunity laws that protected perpetrators of human rights violations during Argentina’s last civil-military dictatorship (1976–1983). Emerging around the turn of the new millennium, these critical maps relay social urban space as the zone of contact between the memory of industrialised violence and present forms of injustice, ranging from economic marginalisation to building demolition and impunity laws to police violence.

I theorise ‘dissident cartography’ as a practice that temporarily alters human cognitive, sensory, and social perceptions of public spaces to protest polity.

Alongside research, I have provided teaching assistance and guest lectured for BA and MA courses in Art History, Museum Studies, Theatre Studies, and Memory Studies. Between 2021 and 2023, I also worked for the Humanities Faculty as their PhD Representative on the university’s Central Council.
